Exploring the History of the Sunday School Movement and it role in the Uniting Church
Where: Hope Hall (rear of Clayton Wesley UC, 280 Portrush Road, Beulah Park)
- Rev Dr Malcolm McArthur will recall the origins, development, structure and purpose of the Sunday School.
- Dr Don Hopgood will recount his own experience and some of the significant people within it.
- Malcolm McArthur will describe the influence of post WWII demographic and social change and the decline of the movement.
- Rev David Houston will illustrate a ‘positive postscript’ during and following the introduction of the Christian Life Curriculum.
Come ready to share a memory from your Sunday School days. You are invited to bring photos of School Rooms, Anniversary and Demonstration Days from your Church or your collection, for table display.
Afternoon tea will be provided by members of the Society.

The Reconciliation Movement
Where: Unley Uniting church
As the Uluru Statement From the Heart and its proposals gain momentum, it is timely to recall how the Uniting church contributed to the movement for reconciliation between First Nations peoples and all who have settled on this continent since 1788.
The forum will feature a number of contributors, including Dr. Deidre Palmer (immediate past President of the Assembly), Dr Jonathan Barker, and Tarlee Leondaris (Synod’s Covenanting and International Missions officer), who will share their experiences.
