Objectives

The Society is recognised as an Agency of the Synod of South Australia and is responsible for the preservation, storage and maintenance of historical material and memorabilia which is not required by the Synod to be stored in the State Library of South Australia.

The Objectives of the Society are:

  • To stimulate interest in the history of the Uniting Church and of the three churches – Congregational, Methodist & Presbyterian – which came together in union in 1977.
  • To promote the collection and preservation of historical documents and records, and the recording of reminiscences of church life.
  • To publish historical articles and lectures.
  • To co-operate with other societies interested in the history of South Australia.
